Prime Minister Netanyahu said there was “no change” in plans to cancel parts of the West Bank if approved by the United States, but added that they would be temporarily suspended. Prior to the agreement, the plan to annex the West Bank by 30% had already been frozen, with the majority of Israelis and government coalition partners Benny Gantz rejecting the plan. Hundreds of thousands of Israeli settlers live in the territories, in addition to Palestinians who in practice were under Israeli control. Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said that the agreement should be continued by abandoning any plan to annex parts of the West Bank and that if the agreement could lead to its withdrawal from the Palestinian territories, it would bring the Middle East closer to peace. Otherwise, the Arab-Israeli conflict would only get worse. The parties also express their common interest in establishing and developing mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of exploration and use of space for peaceful purposes, in a manner consistent with national legislation and the international obligations of each party. This cooperation may include the implementation of joint programs, projects and activities in the fields of science, space research, space technologies and education, the exchange of experts, information and best practices, and the promotion of cooperation between their respective space industries. Malaysia stated that the agreement was a sovereign right of the United Arab Emirates, but that it would continue to support Israel`s withdrawal from the Palestinian territories. The Philippine Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement in which it welcomed the agreement and hoped it would contribute to peace and security in the Middle East. Martin S. Indyk, who served as special envoy for israeli-Palestinian negotiations under President Barack Obama, said the agreement gave Mr.
Trump and Mr. Netanyahu a way to escape a political box of their own production, with the president`s peace plan stalled and the politically problematic influx of the prime minister`s annexation. For all these reasons, I say no to this agreement, as do anyone who deals with justice. Peace, security, equality and respect for the long-awaited rights of the Palestinian people: this agreement is exactly the opposite. Amira Hass wrote that the agreement was the result of the Palestinian Authority`s continued neglect of relations with the United Arab Emirates.
